Tea Party Events and Sample Legislation

The Tea Party in Tallahassee at the old Capital Building and then at the Tallahassee Auto Museum were tremendous successes. There was a massive turnout at both venues.
People were excited to see that their values, of government being responsive to the wishes of the people, were not shared by them alone. They were also excited to see that they had a chance to gain this type of representation in the next election, something that they currently lack.
I’ve added a new tab on my website titled, “My First Week in Office”, that will be posted on Monday. Everyone took the 4th off to celebrate with friends and family hence it is not up yet. The discussion of this document was of prime interest at the 2 events yesterday. There are many things I would like to do once elected. These are the things I WILL do the first week in office, as the public will have already given me the right to proceed by giving me their vote.
I encourage you to come back and see the difference from what we currently have to what we will have once you elect me to the office of U.S. Representative.
One last item. At both events, I talked with many, many people who asked what I would like to implement if given the opportunity. From time to time I will list some of the pieces of legislation that I would like to propose once the people of District 2 give me the “go-ahead”.

The following is one:
After 6-years in office, congressmen obtain lifetime private health insurance. I propose that we cancel this policy. In lieu of private insurance, I propose that we roll all congressmen/congresswomen – past, present and future – into the Veteran’s Administration. The existing V.A. will barely feel the incorporation of this many new inductees. If it is good enough for our service men and women, it is good enough for congressmen/congresswomen.
Benefits of this plan:
There will be a cost savings by eliminating the private insurance
Most importantly, if congress has to use the Veteran’s Administration for their health coverage, I firmly believe, congress will fund the V.A. much better than is currently being done!
I know that many will say that this is a great idea but congress won’t go along with it. Read “My First Week in Office” and see one of the ways it WILL be accomplished. Make no mistake, no congressman or congresswoman want to be publicly exposed for wanting something that is good enough for our men and women in service to their nation but not good enough for them.
