Federal Health Care is a convoluted system of suggestions brought about by a group of bureaucrats who are less than honest in both their motives and their lack of do diligence regarding the cost of implementation.
The bottom line on Health Care Programs is that they are sold on unsubstantiated speculations until the truths about their cost and means of acquiring more money from taxpayers starts being brought to light. Then the old mantra returns,” We can’t have children not covered with health insurance. It is about the children”. Nothing could be further from the truth!
I have been investigating a program called Florida Kidcare. I am currently waiting for an appointment with a member from the corporate office to answer several questions that I currently have. Apparently this will cover children from birth to age 18. There appears to be a limited number of enrollment openings but I will find out the answers to that and many other questions when I gain my meeting. Apparently other states have similar programs.
If this program works, then why not expand something that is already in place, for the children. The reason is, it is not for the children. Children can not vote.
I have seen many estimates on people without health care. It seems that somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 million people don’t have health insurance. The statistics would suggest that about half of these CHOOSE to spend their disposable income on other things. I have to question why taxpayers should pay for people who make bad choices.
I just saw a health insurance company advertisement that boasted coverage for the price of a package of cigarettes a day. Not many people can not afford that. I personally can not afford a large screen TV, but many people who can not afford health care - can.
I agree that all children should be covered and the parents should be responsible for that coverage. A program like mentioned above would fill the bill. Once the child reaches 18 years old, it is time to start acting like an adult and start making adult decisions. Should parents still be involved, of course, but it is hard enough to get many parents involved when it should be mandatory.
It is time to make people responsible for their own actions and stop rewarding bad behavior and bad decision making. If we continue to bail out irresponsibility then, as we have seen in the past, people will rely on government to GIVE them things and will continue to vote a particular party into office, who will continue to keep the freebies coming, thereby eliminating their free will to strive, to better themselves and excel in life.
This last paragraph just summed up the real motive for the Universal Health Care Plan in the United States.

What about the 20 million that don't have a choice? I agree with most of what the Modern Whigs and Paul is saying, but on health-care I am still un-convinced and would like to hear more arguments against it. The main argument is the cost of implementing it, but what about the cost of the people who hold two jobs with 2 kids and can't afford health-care? I don't agree that it is a matter of freebies, it is a matter of ensuring health-care is there for everyone. This isn't the government giving everyone a T.V. or a computer, this is ensuring that if you are poor, jobless, and have cancer you can get the proper treatment and operations to get better. I think the costs will be great, but again the costs of letting people go without the proper medical care is far greater.
